Isabel Marant Spring Summer 2013

Isabel Marant Spring Summer 2013 (source: www.style.com)
Friday, 28th September. Today was the day when Isabel Marant's Spring Summer 2013 collection was finally unveiled. For some inexplicable reason, Isabel Marant has created a total frenzy in the world of fashion lovers and for some of them (aka moi) today was a big day. Not that she is not talented, but rationally thinking I still don't understand why she is so much popular than other as talented designers. Even on the craziest day in the office when I had no time for a lunch break I did find some time to view the pictures of Isabel Marant's show (sorry boss, but it was just 5 minutes). Slightly obsessed, you think ?

Like every season, I liked the show but I didn't love it. It wasn't particularly spectacular and nothing really innovative came out. It wasn't no Burberry Prorsum show like the one we saw last week but while Christopher Bailey was selling the Burberry dream (I could only wear that pink metallic trench in my dreams, really), Miss Marant is selling real clothes. Which is probably her strength, making cool, simple, boho chic, ready-to-wear collections which all of us could see fitting in our wardrobes immediately after the runway.

Although not impressed, I did love the black/white/red flowers combination, the printed trousers (all of them !) and the red leather (déjà-vue, Isabel ?). I am somehow disappointed with the shoes though, I was expecting some va-va-voom effect like with the ankle chain strap sandals from last Spring or the western inspired boots from this fall. Instead, the gladiator sandals seemed slightly boring.

Isabel Marant fans will love this collection and will start making their wishlists for Spring. And you, are you Isabel Marant-obsessed or totatlly indifferent to this collection?
Have a great weekend !!

  3. Your review hit the nail right on the head. While I sometimes question the IM hysteria that's sweeping the world, I still love the beautiful construction that suits my frame perfectly and that her clothes are so wearable and chic. I never like what I see on the catwalk until I see the trickle of Etoile collection arriving in the stores. It's different when I see real women rocking her clothes. That's what makes me rush out to buy them.

    1. You are right, her clothes are (for the most) very well constructed and suit many of us very well :) I'm an unconditional fan, but still I question the crazyness over her brand. xx

  5. J'adore les imprimés Paisley (en rose et sur fond blanc) et les pantalons méga miaaaam. Mais vu qu'ils sont cloutés, je pense qu'ils vont coûter un bras :(

  6. I liked the blouses and some of the dresses in this collection. I'm never crazy about Isabel MArant's catwalk show, to be honest. I find her clothes usually a lot more interesting when I see them in real life or worn by bloggers.
On top of that, I've to say I identify myself a lot more with the Etoile style. I find the main line often too flashy for my lifestyle.
