Neon yellow by Alexander Wang

I love Alexander Wang and his basic tees and dresses, these are the basics you should own in your wardrobe. Usually his collections are quite monochrome, blacks, greys and whites are everywhere and you often don't see more than that. This year he surprised us with an interpretation of neon-yellow in several pieces and aren't we happy that he did, thank you Mr Wang !

Neon cotton sweater (farftech), Mélangé mini dress (Net-a-Porter), Mélangé long dress (boutique1), Hooded sweater (Net-a-porter), Skirt (Net-a-Porter)

Most of the items are a "mélangé" of grey and neon-yellow which makes theses pieces perfectly wearable even for those of us not really sure about the neon trend. He also created more flashy pieces in real neon-yellow which are just as perfect but you probably need to be more adventurous to try them out. My favorite piece has to be the skirt, the cut is not new, you probably already saw it in previous seasons in black or grey, but this cut in this color is just perfection.

I have caught two of my favorite bloggers wearing this gorgeous skirt and they do it justice, they look spectacular!

Walinette from thebeautyandthegeek.fr

Walinette is a french blogger, she always knows how to wear new trends and has really a style of her own as you can see from the neon necklace she's wearing.

Charlotte is a dutch blogger living in London and her looks are impressive, can you even tell that this girl just gave birth a few weeks ago?

What do you think about neon yellow, do you agree with me that Alexander Wang captured this trend well?

Which piece of the collection is your favorite?

Jerôme Dreyfuss and Isabel Marant - the perfect couple?

My two recent buys were a Jerôme Dreyfuss Carlos bag and Isabel Marant Dicker boots (thanks to Alexander from http://www.thecornerberlin.com/ who patiently received and shipped the Dicker boots!).

Carlos bag in Vison and Dicker boots in taupe (2012 color)

They were not really supposed to match but when I wear them together it's like they were meant to be an inseparable couple, just like the real-life couple, Isabel Marant and accessories designer husband Jerôme Dreyfuss. I don't know if this power couple designs their collections together but there is something about these brands which makes them perfectly compatible.

I've also selected here my favorite items of their respective SS 2012 collections, in case you would like to invest in a Parisian chic piece or be inspired by it...

What do you think of my bag and boots? What  is your favorite piece of these collections?

Juicy Orange

Some are saying that orange is THE color of the year. To be honest, I am not so sure about that but it is a fact that looking by SS 12 runways there is hardly a way to imagine a wardrobe without at least one orange piece. From the runways I was inspired by these three dresses but runways are easy, the challenge will be to wear this citrus color in real life.

Jenny Packham Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear
Jenny Packham (style.com)

Here are the pieces I have hand-picked, as you will see some are realistic and affordable while others are dreams and inspirations (at least for me). In the end I was really inspired, which is why you will find so many pieces!

Calvin Klein dress (mytheresa.com), J Crew trousers, Marc by Marc Jacobs iPad case, Kain label tank (all net-a-porter.com),   Sandro dress and blazer (sandro-paris.com), OPI atomic orange, Kenneth Jay Lane ring (net-a-porter.com), Castaner espadrilles (on sale, matchesfashion.com)

Miss Selfridge Top and skirt (missselfridge.com), Cimarron jeans (stylebop.fr), Chanel May nail polish and MAC Morange lipstick, Topshop sweater and blazer (topshop.com), Cambridge cracked orange satchel (asos.com), Asos enamel earrings (asos.com), Michael Michael Korrs ballet flats (mywardrobe.com)

I'm still not sure that I will fall for orange but if that's the case, I bet it's going to be for an orange blazer. I see it already paired with a dark blue skinny jeans and a white silk blouse... In the meantime I'll be wearing my favorite orange nail polishes, OPI's atomic orange and Chanel's June to easily be right on trend!

How about you, will you wear orange? What's your favorite piece?

Flower jeans

Patterned jeans were quite popular in 2011 (my favorite were animal print), and this trend will continue in 2012, with patterns becoming crazier and crazier. One of the popular patterns you are likely to see very soon are flowers, premium denim brands are coming out with their exclusive designs and high street shops are rightly doing the same.

I've selected here some of my favorite styles: Citizens of Humanity's delicate designs on cream and navy, Paige's bright colorful flowers and MinkPink's Wisteria Lane jeans with more subtle grey and cream flowers.
Citizens of Humanity in navy and cream (shopbop.com), Paige USA (not out yet, thanks PAIGE USA for this picture !!!), MinkPink in Wisteria Lane (revolveclothing.com).

As for how to style these jeans, this should be very easy. The key piece of your look will be these jeans, therefore you should keep the rest of your outfit neutral. I personally got topshop's flower jeans, as I couldn't resist the bright colors on black, and the affordable price... To style them I just wear a black or a cream sweater as you can see below. On the left I wore them with black cashmere sweater and on the right with a cream cable knit sweater and a denim shirt. On both picture I'm wearing Zara black wedges but biker boots also make a good combination.

I love both these looks, cannot really pick a favorite. How about you, what's your favorite?

What do you think about this trend, is this something you would wear?

Winter white

Winter arrived in Belgium, and with winter I always look forward to seeing snow and a white landscape... Until this happens I feel like wearing white and cream and got inspired by this gorgeous look found at http://www.mij-a-porter.com/

mij-a-porter

The winter sales are here and if you haven't reached your credit card limit (which I did!!!!) you might want to snag some classics like a white turtleneck sweater, a coat or a dress. If you don't plan on buying winter clothes anymore, invest in a pair of perfect-cut white jeans for Spring and Summer and start wearing them NOW, I promise you will not go unnoticed...

1. Joseph sweater, 60% off (my-wardrobe), 2. Flap pocket shirt (stylebymarina), 3. J Brand white jeans (jbrandjeans), 4. Sandro jacket, 50% off  (sandro), 5. Zara coat, on sale (zara), 6. Mango dress, 50% off  (mango), 7. Topshop stud boots (topshop)

How to wear your flare jeans to work...

As I am going back to work tomorrow after 6 months at home with my baby (!!!), I was inspired to talk about how to dress for work. As my office is rather conservative I know that I need to change my current "daily uniform" (skinny jeans, chunky sweater and biker boots) to a more polished look. I also realize that I probably won't be wearing my flower skinny jeans anymore during the week (future post alert: flower skinny jeans!). The perfect transition will be to continue wearing jeans (because I LOVE jeans), but more classic styles, like dark blue flare jeans.

As I mentioned in my first post, I think that a dark blue flare jeans is one of the basics you should have in your closet. You can wear them in very different ways to work, depending on your mood and/or the dress code in your office. Plus, you can quickly dress them up or down for other occasions and they are totally flattering!

My favorite flares in my wardrobe are the J Brand Babe Flare in dark blue wash. Look how great they look on a model's perfect body...

jbrandjeans.com

These jeans are perfect for me but there are other (more affordable) alternatives, like these ones from ASOS which I came across the other day.

Asos.com

Here are three different outfits which I will probably be wearing in the next coming weeks to the office... I realize that I have a lot of fun creating different looks with the same piece (like I did with the IRO Asella jacket), I guess I will do this more often.

I like all these looks but my favorite is the flower blouse and navy velvet blazer. I love this flower blouse which I got during the sales, it was really a great buy (for belgian readers: this blouse is still on sale 50% at Zara here).

How about you, do you wear flare jeans to work? How do you style them?

Pastels

Pastel colors is a big trend for SS12 and one of my favorite collections reflecting this trend was Ralph Lauren's. I fell in love with this pink leather biker jacket from the runway show and recently started looking for an affordable version.

Ralph Lauren SS12 (style.com)

Let me tell that I did not find anything even close to this jacket...Well, let's say it's because SS12 collections are not entirely yet in shops and I have to be patient (grrrrr!).

The good thing is that I did find other nice pastel pieces, here my selection which will probably not be the last... Well, at least if I find a pastel biker jacket I will tell you all about!

1. Joseph dress (my-wardrobe), 2. American Apparel chiffon skirt (here), 3. Pastel satchel (zatchels), 4. Current/Elliott leopard jeans in pastel blue (net-a-porter), 5. Studded slippers (topshop), 6. Lace dress (topshop), 7. Acne pistol boots in pale blue (mytheresa), 8. Textured sweater (topshop), 9. Joe's jeans in light pink (shopbop)

My favorites are Acne pistol boots in pale blue, the color is so unexpected and yet neutral enough to go with any outfit. The only problem? They are sooooo expensive (400 €)! Let's hope Topshop will come up with a good alternative as they did for the black version...

What is your favorite pastel piece? And what do you think about a pastel biker jacket?

My 2012 wishlist

Following Emi's blog and dorothydancing.be, I found this idea of sharing our 2012 top 10 wish list in our blogs really cool (which also makes a very easy blog post). It was just difficult to select my favorite 10 items...

What do you think of my list?

1. Nude Louboutin pumps (Pigalle or Simple pump)

2. Missoni bikini for our mexican trip in April... (net-a-porter.com)

3. Cartier love bracelet, not original AT ALL, I know, I know... but this is MY wish list!! After being the perfect wife for more than 5 years and having had two lovely boys I think I deserve it (right, DH?)

4. Khaki Dicker Isabel Marant , last year I was pregnant and had my feet so swollen I couldn't even try these on, now that my feet are back to normal I need my IM fashion fix from last year! (net-a-porter.com)

5. MiH Light blue flare jeans, I want to look like Farrah Fawcett in the '70s (so yes, I'm going back to being a blonde too!) (matchesfashion.com)

6. A bright colored mini bag like the Proenza Schouler pouch in Coral (I will probably get a cheaper version, but a girl can dream!) (mytheresa.com)

7. A neon sweater like this mint Acne sweater (sorry guys, this is the third time I show this sweater. in the blog... you can see how much I love it) (matchesfashion.com)

9. Fluoro jeans from AG, neon yellow or neon pink (matchesfashion.com)

The IRO Asella jacket

When I first discovered the IRO Asella jacket several months ago I found it incredibly gorgeous. But as I had just given birth at that time and the only thing I wanted to wear was track pants and hoodies I didn't pay too much attention to it. Now that I am going back to work, and desperately need to find new work appropriate outfits I remembered my first love for the Asella jacket and decided that I had to have it.

The reason why I love this "rock Chanel-inspired" tweed jacket so much is because on top of being effortlessly on trend and timeless at the same time, it is also very versatile. This jacket is appropriate for almost any occasion, you can wear it to go out, to go the office or even on the weekends with a perfectly relaxed outfit. You can pair it with jeans, leather leggings or any other trousers, with a skirt or even over a dress. Plus, it has the right amount of glitter to go out while it is still subtle enough for a day in the office. When I received my Asella jacket in the mail I immediately tried it out with three different outfits and it felt right every time, here is the result (my favorite is happy hour, btw).

If you're not convinced yet, have a look at the-working-girl.com (a blog I love!) where the lovely Clara shows how to dress trendy for work and more. Clara wears the Asella jacket to perfection in very different (and inspiring) ways, check it out!

Even if the Asella is not the perfect jacket for you, there are plenty of other alternatives. A Chanel-inspired tweed jacket is always a good investment as you will wear it for a long time. Choose a glitter or lurex version to be just on trend or a no-shine tweed for a more classic look. Here is my selection, my advice is: get one during the winter sales (I mean NOW, if you're in Europe!).

What do you think about MY favorite? What is yours?

1. ASOS lurex jacket (here), 2. "Bijou" jacket from Comptoir des Cotonniers (here), 3. DKNY linen jacket  at Net-a-Porter (70%off now here), 4. Mango tweed jacket (not available online), 5. IKKS glitter jacket (here)

The Pencil Denim Skirt

For once, here is a trend I am not very excited about, the pencil denim skirt... I always loved the mini denim skirt but the longer version has never been my favorite. As they seem to be everywhere I still decided to talk about them and get your opinion.

1. Maje skirt (on sale at Stylebop here), 2. Current Elliott leopard print skirt (Revolve clothing), 3. Closed denim skirt (Stylebop), 4. Isabel Marant skirt (Net-a-Porter), 5. Acne fine trash skirt (Acne studios), 6. BlankNYC skirt (Shopbop)

As SS12 will bring us the return of the Oh so '80s bleached and destroyed denim (see Acne's latest arrivals here and BlankNYC's 2012 lookbook), Acne's skirt is the trendiest version but you probably need to be a fierce fashionista to wear it. I would personally go for the leopard version, but that's just me and my animal print obsession...

What are your thoughts on this trend and on my selection?
